Essential Health Principal Investigator
Catherine Benziger is a cardiologist at Essentia Health specializing in echocardiography, heart disease prevention and clinical research. She is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus. Since becoming a medical director of heart and vascular research at Essentia Health in 2017, she has led a large research team as site PI for multiple clinical trials. Dr. Benziger’sm work focuses on improving cardiovascular health in rural areas, including prevention of diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol through research and education. She believes the PRECIDENTD study is important because diabetes is very common and it will help us understand which treatment is best at preventing heart attacks, strokes, and other diseases.
